My Approach

The foundation of my work is based in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (please click the link to learn more). Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy which focuses on the relationship between the therapist and patient, and exploring the roots of our current difficulties in order to understand and create meaningful change. As our templates are formed in childhood, the way we relate to ourselves, others and the world, starts with our earliest relationships. Psychodynamic therapists will focus on understanding those relationships and their impact to help create important and lasting changes for our future. We work on increasing self-awareness of our own templates and emotions, where they come from, why they are there, what they mean and how they impact us. Another area of focus in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is patterns - patterns of emotions, behaviors and ways we interact with ourselves and others - in order to be able to identify, explore and change patterns that are no longer working for us. I also aim to provide a lot of psychoeducation about how and why patterns are created, what functions our thoughts, feelings and behaviors perform, and our brain’s focus on survival.
