How do you interact with the world?
Welcome!
Hi there! I’m Caitlin. I’m a Board Certified Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) helping patients in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I specialize in complex, attachment, and developmental trauma in adults and work through a Psychodynamic Psychotherapy lens to help identify and change patterns of thoughts, emotions and behaviors that are causing difficulties. Read more about my approach below!
I graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2019 with a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling and became independently licensed in 2021; shortly thereafter I launched my own private practice. I am a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and the Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters - MAMHCA and RIMHCA . I am also a member and mentor for the Massachusetts Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology (MAPP). I am dedicated to providing the best care possible and am constantly learning from trainings, other therapists, and my patients. Please walk through my site and reach out if you’d like, I’d love to hear from you!
My Approach
The foundation of my work is based in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (please click the link to learn more). Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy which focuses on the relationship between the therapist and patient, and exploring the roots of our current difficulties in order to understand and create meaningful change. As our templates are formed in childhood, the way we relate to ourselves, others and the world, starts with our earliest relationships. Psychodynamic therapists will focus on understanding those relationships and their impact to help create important and lasting changes for our future. We work on increasing self-awareness of our own templates and emotions, where they come from, why they are there, what they mean and how they impact us. Another area of focus in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is patterns - patterns of emotions, behaviors and ways we interact with ourselves and others - in order to be able to identify, explore and change patterns that are no longer working for us. I also aim to provide a lot of psychoeducation about how and why patterns are created, what functions our thoughts, feelings and behaviors perform, and our brain’s focus on survival. Please check out the FAQ page to see if what you’re struggling with can benefit from this treatment.
